Family Supports Waiver (FSW)

The Family Supports Waiver is the primary entry point for families with children who have intellectual or developmental disabilities. Services include respite care, family training, counseling, and in-home support to help your family manage daily care needs.

Health and Wellness Waiver

The Health and Wellness Waiver serves individuals under age 60 with physical disabilities, chronic medical conditions, or brain injuries who need nursing facility-level care but prefer to live at home. Services include adaptive equipment, nursing care, therapy, and home modifications.

Community Integration & Habilitation (CIH) Waiver

The CIH Waiver provides more extensive services for individuals with developmental disabilities who have priority needs, such as aging caregivers, safety concerns, or transition from institutional settings. This waiver offers day programs, employment services, and community-based supports.

TEFRA/katie beckett waiver

This waiver is specifically for children with serious medical conditions who might otherwise require hospitalization. It allows medically complex children to receive care at home with Medicaid coverage, regardless of the family’s income level.

As of early 2026, the Family Supports and CIH waivers are at maximum capacity. New applicants are placed on a hold list and moved forward only as space opens up — there is no set timeline. We recommend applying anyway to get on the list and checking back here for updates. Indiana is also planning a full overhaul of these waivers ("Waiver Reset") in 2027, so processes may change again.

Home Modifications & Assessments — Covers ramps, grab bars, widened doorways, and walk-in tubs for accessibility.

Specialized Medical Equipment & Supplies — Covers adaptive equipment, lift chairs, and medication dispensers.

Non-Medical Transportation — Rides to appointments, therapy, and community activities.
​
Family and Caregiver Training — Training for parents on managing a child’s specific care needs.

Behavioral Support Services — Support for managing behavioral challenges tied to developmental or intellectual disabilities.

Case Management — A coordinator helps the family navigate services, providers, and paperwork across waivers.
​
Day Habilitation / Day Programs — Structured daytime programs building skills and community engagement.

Note: A statewide "Waiver Reset" is planned for 2027 that may change service names and rules. We'll update this page as details are confirmed.
